A plastic compound combines a high level of electrical insulation and heat resistance
We have launched a new compound grade AM-3800 in our diallyl phthalate (DAP) molding compound series (SUMIKON™ AM). Diallyl phthalate is a thermosetting plastic known for its excellent electrical insulation, heat resistance, and moisture resistance properties. AM-3800 has a high level of insulation with a STT* of 900V, this makes it suitable for applications in high voltage components. It also has high heat resistance with a glass transition temperature (Tg) of 235°C. In addition, AM-3800 can be used for thin-wall and complex shape molding by injection molding machines.
* Under the conventional tracking test standard based on IEC 60112 (CTI : Comparative Tracking Index Test), the maximum test voltage was limited to 600V. However, with increasing demands for higher electrical performance of materials, the new standard UL 2597 (STT : Surface Tracking Test), established by UL Standards & Engagement, enables testing at voltages of up to 900V.
Features
Tracking resistance (STT : Surface Tracking Test)
AM-3800 has a high tracking resistance of 900V.
Heat resistance and Moisture resistance
AM-3800 also has high heat resistance with a glass transition temperature (Tg) of 235°C and moisture resistance. As a result, it maintains tracking resistance and insulation breakdown strength under high-temperature and high-humidity environments. The safety and reliability of electrical components can be improved.
Screw injection moldable
AM-3800 can be used for thin-wall molding by injection molding machines. The high CTI and the ability to mold thin and complex shapes allow for greater flexibility in component design, such as smaller parts and higher heat dissipation.
Fire resistance
Diallyl phthalate is a thermosetting resin that does not melt under fire, providing excellent fire resistance.
Applications
It is suitable for applications that require high electrical insulation and heat resistance due to high-voltage conditions.
