Sumitomo Bakelite Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Shinichi Kajiya) is pleased to announce that it acquired all shares of a newly established company that succeeded to part of Kyocera Corporation’s chemical business. The company commenced operations as Sumitomo Bakelite Chemical Solution Co., Ltd. on October 30, 2026.
Under this transaction, a company newly established by Kyocera succeeded, through an absorption-type company split, to certain businesses in Kyocera’s chemical operations, including semiconductor encapsulation epoxy molding compounds, semiconductor bonding paste, and industrial resins. We then acquired all shares of the new company.

Purpose of the Transaction

Under its Medium-Term Management Plan 2024–26, Sumitomo Bakelite Co., Ltd. is strategically advancing the transformation and expansion of its business portfolio.
By welcoming the new company, which has succeeded to part of Kyocera’s chemical business, into Our Group, we will further strengthen our presence in the ICT field and accelerate the enhancement of our technological capabilities to develop high-value-added products.
By combining our expertise in areas such as semiconductor encapsulation epoxy molding compounds and semiconductor bonding paste with the new company’s proprietary technologies, we will respond to a broader range of customer needs, including in applications for AI data centers, a market expected to grow.
Through this transaction, we will further advance the realization of our “Vision for 2030” and contribute to society as a company that “brings dreams to the future.”
