Introduction of Research Paper using BlotGlyco
トップ画像

Glycans play important roles in diverse cellular functions and serve as disease biomarkers; however, conventional methods have faced challenges in accurately analyzing complex N-glycans. Here, we introduce a paper published in PLOS ONE titled “Optimizing the preparation of labeled N-glycans for rapid, simplified, and high-precision analysis.” This study proposes a rapid and highly precise N-glycan analysis method using the original “BlotGlyco” technology. A key feature is the remarkable improvement in separation and detection accuracy achieved by specific labeling with an S-phosphorylation analog. This enabled precise analysis of glycans derived from human serum, urine, and CHO cell membranes, achieving consistently high-precision and highly reproducible data. It overcomes previous challenges in identifying and comparatively analyzing complex glycans, establishing an effective technological platform for glycan biomarker discovery, disease research, and clinical diagnostic development. This study is expected to contribute to the advancement of disease diagnostics and life science research as a new standard method for glycan analysis.

A successful week at SOT ToxExpo 2026

We participated in SOT Annual Meeting & ToxExpo in San Diego in March. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who visited our booth, and engaged with S-BIO team from Sumitomo Bakelite Co., Ltd. It was a privilege to showcase our Micro Physiological Systems (MPS) - including the BioStellar Plate and MyoFlex Plate - and to discuss their potential in advancing drug discovery and toxicological research. The insightful feedback and deep discussions we had reinforce our commitment to providing innovative tools for the global scientific community. We look forward to following up with our new customers and partners and continuing our collaborative journey to shape a better future. See you all at the next SOT!

TPX-made centrifuge tubes are characterized by their resistance to organic solvents and transparent material, making them useful for distinguishing liquid-liquid interfaces during phenol-chloroform extraction. As reference data, when immersed for 2 hours in a 1:1 mixture of phenol/chloroform, PS-made centrifuge tubes showed dissolution and cloudiness, whereas TPX-made centrifuge tubes showed no cloudiness caused by the organic solvents.

I’m Hisatoshi Yoshinaga from the S-Bio Division. Thank you always for reading. Spring-like weather has continued in Japan as well. The other day, I went to the park with my child and played with homemade bubble solution, and we were able to make large bubbles about 50 cm in diameter. Since it can be made with relatively simple ingredients, please try it if you are interested. By the way, the thickness of a soap bubble film is less than 1 micrometer and uneven, so beautiful rainbow-like colors are produced by the reflection and interference of light. Even when playing innocently in a spring park, we encounter small wonders of science. After taking thorough measures against pollen, I’m heading out again this week.
