                | Osteosarcoma (OS) is a rare malignant tumor that develops in the bones of the limbs, characterized by high metastasis rates, drug resistance, and poor prognosis. While conventional treatments have limitations, ferroptosis, an iron-dependent programmed cell death, has garnered attention as a novel therapeutic strategy. This time, we introduce a paper published in Cell Death Discovery titled “FSP1 is a predictive biomarker of osteosarcoma cells’ susceptibility to ferroptotic cell death and a potential therapeutic target”. This research focused on the heterogeneity of ferroptosis sensitivity and investigated the role of ferroptosis suppressor protein 1 (FSP1). By using PrimeSurface™ 96U plates to form 3D spheroids for analysis, it was revealed that cell lines with lower FSP1 expression exhibited higher sensitivity to ferroptosis.
Furthermore, highly sensitive cell lines were found to exhibit elevated expression of mesenchymal markers, suggesting that FSP1 is a critical regulator of ferroptosis resistance. Additionally, treatment with RSL3 (a ferroptosis activator) increased susceptibility, which was further enhanced when combined with an FSP1 inhibitor (iFSP1). This study indicates that FSP1 serves as a predictive biomarker for ferroptosis sensitivity and holds potential as a therapeutic target. Moreover, the PrimeSurface™ 96U plate, by enabling the formation of 3D spheroids resembling in vivo environments, is expected to be a powerful tool for osteosarcoma research and the development of novel therapies.

                | We will be exhibiting at the 38th annual meeting of the Japanese Society for Alternatives to Animal Experiments (November 1-3, Pacifico Yokohama). This year’s conference theme is “Deepening the Science of the 3Rs and Expanding Its Social Impact.” At our booth, we will showcase products such as the on-chip pump-type multi-organ MPS device “BioStellar™ Plate,” which supports pharmacokinetics research, and the protein low-adsorption container “ProteoSave™.” We look forward to welcoming you, so please make time to visit our booth! |

                | We exhibited at corporate booths during the Glyco-Core Symposium 2025 (September 24-25, Nagoya) and the 44th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Glycobiology (October 2-4, Hirosaki). The Glyco-Core Symposium is an international conference hosted by the Institute for GlycoCore Research (iGCORE) at Tokai National University. It featured presentations of the latest research findings from glycobiology researchers worldwide, centered on the ongoing Human Glycome Atlas Project. At the S-BIO booth, we introduced kit products, automated solutions, and glycan analysis services supporting glycan research. We received many questions and feedback from researchers, providing valuable insights for future product development and service improvement.
We were also delighted that many visitors to our booth at the 44th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Glycoscience expressed strong interest, taking the opportunity to physically examine our glycan solutions.
These events allowed us to tangibly sense the further advancement of glycan research and reaffirmed how our products can contribute to this field. We will continue striving to meet your expectations as a partner supporting the development of this field.
Finally, we extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who visited our booth and those who approached us at the venue. We look forward to your continued support.

                | I’m Fukui from the Marketing and Sales Department of the S-Bio Division. As we enter October, the weather has finally become more comfortable. How are you all doing? Autumn is often associated with a variety of activities, such as enjoying delicious food, reading, and sports. As for me, I find myself spending my days off watching soccer and baseball games. October, being the final stretch of the season, not only fires up the players but also intensifies our enthusiasm as fans. Watching the players give their all and hearing the passionate cheers of the supporters is truly moving! On the other hand, perhaps due to the increasing number of summer-like days, it feels like the autumn season is getting shorter.
Precisely because this time of year is so precious, just thinking about "What should I do on my next day off?" is enough to get me excited.
