Recent research trends on
glycosylation modifications of IgG
トップ画像

It is known that IgG functions are altered by glycan modifications. Additionally, the glycan composition of IgG is recognized as a useful biomarker for certain diseases and health conditions.

This time, we introduce the paper titled "Predicting Biochemical and Physiological Parameters: Deep Learning from IgG Glycome Composition," published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences.

The paper focuses on the impact of IgG glycan modifications on biochemical and physiological parameters (e.g., age, BMI, blood pressure) and employs a deep learning model for analysis.

The results demonstrated that these parameters could be predicted with high accuracy from the IgG glycome, outperforming traditional methods such as linear regression and random forest. Furthermore, it was confirmed that specific glycan compositions are effective indicators of diseases and physiological states.

This achievement suggests the potential of leveraging the IgG glycome as a promising biomarker for personalized medicine and disease prediction, emphasizing the importance of data-driven research utilizing AI.

Our company exhibited at the 32nd Annual Meeting of HAB Research Organization held at Shonan iPark on May 8-9. The meeting focused on evaluation systems from In Vivo to In Vitro. As a product related to microphysiological systems (MPS), which are expected to serve as alternatives to animal testing, we showcased the on-chip pump-type multi-organ MPS "BioStellar Plate." Many attendees, including researchers from pharmaceutical companies, visited our booth and showed interest in the product.

This is Nakamura from the S-Bio Division. On April 13, the Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025 opened, and the event has been widely covered in the news, showcasing the venue's atmosphere. The Sumitomo Pavilion, made of cypress wood and built around the concept of "Harmony between People, Forests, and All Life," has reportedly been bustling with visitors every day.

As a member of the Sumitomo Group, I feel proud and delighted. Although I haven't visited yet, I definitely plan to go at least once. I’ve heard that the "mini heart" created from iPS cells is also attracting many visitors.

This reaffirmed the high level of interest and expectations for regenerative medicine from people around the world. As one of those involved in the support industry for regenerative medicine, I also feel great pride in this.
