The liver is a complex organ composed of parenchymal cells, primarily hepatocytes, and non-parenchymal cells, such as hepatic stellate cells and Kupffer cells, that interact with each other. Replicating these interactions is crucial for in vitro liver disease modeling.

In recent years, advancements have been made in the generation of multilineage liver organoids (mLO) from human iPS cells. However, challenges remain in the simultaneous differentiation of individual components and the in vitro recreation of luminal vasculature.

This time, we introduce a paper published in Stem Cell Research & Therapy titled "Generation of multilineage liver organoids with luminal vasculature and bile ducts from human pluripotent stem cells via modulation of Notch signaling."

In this study, PrimeSurface plates were used to successfully generate mLOs with luminal vasculature and bile ducts by utilizing hepatic endoderm, hepatic stellate-like cells, and endothelial cells derived from human iPS cells.

The generated organoids replicated the interactions between parenchymal and non-parenchymal cells, suggesting their potential application in the construction of precise liver disease models. This represents a significant achievement contributing to advancements in liver research and disease modeling.

Exhibited at the 2nd Academic Symposium
of Japan MPS Initiative

On January 10, 2025, we participated in the 2nd Academic Symposium of the Japan MPS Initiative and the MPS Hands-on Seminar, co-hosted by CSAHi, held at Tower Hall Funabori. We showcased our multi-organ MPS product, the Biostellar Plate, which we began test marketing last year, and conducted a hands-on session.

We were thrilled to welcome numerous visitors to our booth during the limited three-hour timeframe, providing us with a valuable opportunity to present our product features. The Japan MPS Initiative, established in 2023, has seen remarkable growth, with registered members surpassing 300 and the number of exhibiting companies increasing from 11 at the first symposium to 39 this year.

This surge reflects the growing interest and expectations for MPS technologies in Japan. Exhibitors actively exchanged information and explored potential collaborations with various business enterprises. As a domestic MPS supplier, we remain committed to contributing to drug discovery research through our innovative MPS solutions.

This is Takeyama from the Marketing & Sales Department of the S-Bio Business Division. Recently, the cold days have continued, and in some places, there has been heavy snowfall. Did you know that snow is surprisingly heavy? Dry snow weighs about 50-150kg per cubic meter, while wet snow can weigh 300-500kg per cubic meter. Even the snow that flutters down gently can become quite heavy when it accumulates.

Now, I would like to introduce you to "The Generation of Multi-lineage Liver Organoids Using Human iPS Cells." Our product, the PrimeSurface 96U plate, is used in this process. Please take a look!
