On the establishment of The Technology Research Association for Advanced Display Materials



Ten companies jointly established this time "The Technology Research Association for Advanced Display Materials (TRADIM)."
They are: Konica Corporation, JSR Corporation, Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd., Sumitomo Bakelite Co., Ltd., Dainippon Ink And Chemicals, Incorporated, Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd., Toray Industries, Inc., Toppan Printing Co., Ltd., NEC Corporation, and Hitachi Chemical Co., Ltd.
According to the research program of the association the joint work of research and test will be done at the Joint Research Facility for Advanced Display Materials(,as tentatively named) which is planned to be constructed by The National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology at the campus site of Tokyo University of Agriculture & Technology.
The memorandum, articles and rules of association as well as other necessary formalities were approved at the inaugural general meeting held today.

  2. Purposes of TRADIM
    TRADIM aims at strengthening international competitiveness to be realized by transition to plastic substrates, creation of new functions to be crystallized into plastic substrates by means of roll-to-roll process, reduction of numbers of components, and cost reduction as countermeasures against lowering cost competitiveness and accelerated offshore shift of production in the display industries    .
  3. Targets of TRADIM
    Subjects of targeted research are developments of technologies, such as integration of highly functional technologies into plastic film substrates, flexible color filter technologies, material technologies for continuous roll-to-roll panel production process, basic technologies to make high performance and high reliableTFT on plastic substrates.
