Procurement Policy

Procurement activity of the Sumitomo Bakelite Group shall be carried out on the basis of the following policy, for the purpose of fulfilling its Corporate Social Responsibility, while receiving all suppliers' cooperation.

- The Company selects new suppliers according to equal and fair standards.

- The Company works to build and maintain relationships with its business partners that are at all times equal and mutually trustworthy, and aims that such transactions with them should benefit both of us.

- In the conduct of business, the Company emphasizes the followings to its suppliers:

(1) To try to maintain proper qualities and to improve technologies;

(2) To keep delivery date;

(3) Prices should be trade competitive; and

(4) Stability of supply should be ensured.

- In the conduct of its business, the Company upholds Corporate Social Responsibility and requests its business partners to do the same:

(1) To respect human rights;

(2) To comply with laws, regulations and social norms;

(3) To meet safety and health standards;

(4) To conserve the global environment and to reduce environmental burdens;

(5) To conduct fair transactions; and

(6) To reject relations with antisocial forces.

- The Company proactively discloses information needed for transactions to an extent possible and reasonable.

- The Company strictly controls and manages information provided by business partners and maintains its confidentiality.

- The Company believes that intellectual property right is one of the important management assets, and defends its own rights, and respects others'.
